A design for a new piano recital auditorium in a community mixed use development integrating cafe and library with piano practice spaces and a retail unit for a music shop and piano workshop behind. Inspired by local landmarks, the building focuses on light void and heavy solid structure as a contrast. The main auditorium is enclosed inside this dark box in contrast to the light translucent cominuty aspects that relate to the streets surrounding the site.
The 88 steps
Edinburgh
A new public house with three aspects of public publican's and guest house. It is situated below Edinburgh castle on a steep slope. Using vernacular traditions of Edinburgh Old town the mass is split in to tall thin facades in primarily stone with wood accents. this also ties it in to the landscape adjacent to the sight creating a new level access to Edinburgh Castle from Grassmarket via beer and garden terraces with public performances and views across Edinburgh and back up to the Castle.
